The SolidWorks Routing – Piping Module web course teaches you how to model tubing, welded pipe and threaded pipe routes using the SolidWorks Routing add-in. The course begins with a review of some advanced level SolidWorks modeling practices, covers tube and pipe routes and ends with some specific how-to’s for common routing situations.
The course will be presented as two two-hour sessions covering:
Lesson 1: Background and Basics of SolidWorks Routing


  • 3D Sketching
  • Configurations
  • Design Library
  • Top Down Design
  • Virtual Components
Lesson 2: Tube Routing


  • Routing using flexible and orthogonal methods
  • Export tube data to external files
  • Create a drawing of a tubing route
Lesson 3: Pipe Routes (Welded & Threaded)


  • Understand the differences between components and route parts
  • Use orthogonal auto Routing with pipes
  • Edit a piping route and add fittings
  • Use an alternate elbow
Lesson 4: Changes to existing routes


  • Use change route diameter to edit a route
  • Add a pipe penetration to a route
  • Copy piping routes
  • Create flange to flange connections
  • Edit and modify the route sketch
  • Generate a piping drawing
